In the wee hours of Friday, January 14, a fire broke out at a plastic godown in Khan compound in Thane's Shilphata area, stated reports.

According to accounts, the fire began at nearly 2.30 am and six fire tenders reached the spot. The Thane Municipal Corporation stated that no injuries or casualties were reported yet.

Later, on Monday, January 17, the Thane Municipal Corporation was reported to have elaborated on how property worth crores was gutted in the massive fire that broke out. Based on accounts, the fire broke out in a closed cloth factory in Kazi compound, Bhiwandi. However, the cause behind the fire is not clear yet. The civic body added that the fire brigades reached the spot at earliest and no casualties were reported yet.
