Ganpat Patil Nagar, the slum cluster in Dahisar, has not reported any cases of the coronavirus for the last twenty days.

The slum pocket, with a population of 50,000 had been a cause of concern for the authorities since the coronavirus outbreak. So far, it had reported 59 cases which included three deaths.

With no new cases of coronavirus being reported in the slum area over the past couple of days, the main New Link Road has opened up. However, the slum continues to be under strict supervision and the residents will have to continue following Containment Zone regulations so that the situation remains under control and the disease does not spread.

Measures such as fever checks, early screening and maintaining social distancing protocols have helped contain the disease in the Dahisar slum. Moreover, the SERO survey which was conducted at Dahisar’s Anand Garden, Crystal Palace and Ganpat Patil Nagar Gali 1 to 4, helped the process run efficiently.

In the month of June, the suburban areas of Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar began to see an increase in the number of coronavirus cases. The BMC and police decided to impose an immediate lockdown in these areas in view of the situation.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, July 28, Maharashtra recorded 7,717 fresh cases of the coronavirus, propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 3,91,440. Currently, there are 1,44,694 active cases in the state.
