In an incident reported on Monday, May 10, 2021, a gas tanker crashed on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Reports state that the tanker had overturned on the route while descending into Bhor ghat, and as a result, traffic to Mumbai has been disrupted. 

The truck was carrying propylene gas from Pune to Mumbai, and overturned due to break failure whereby the driver lost the control near Mauje-Adoshi area of Khalapur taluka. Officials have stated that the tanker overturned in a manner where it crashed with three vehicles. After the incident was reported, officials diverted the traffic and close the entire route to Mumbai.

The propylene in this tanker was said to be highly flammable and so the traffic so the traffic was immediately diverted keeping the safety concerns in mind. Rescue and investigation teams rushed to the spot and operations to rescue and clear the truck began immediately under the guidance of experts.

Preliminary reports revealed that three people were injured in the incident and no casualties were reported. Furthermore, due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the route did not have heavy traffic and the major accident was averted.
