The United States (US) Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the green card facility will only be available in Mumbai’s US Consulate General branch of the US Embassy.
Until now, the facility was available in three major cities in India including Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai. However, the immigration visa – needed for long-term accommodation in the US - will be only available in Mumbai. A large number of Indians apply for the US green card and this decision has come so that the number can be decreased.
According to the United States Foreign Policy, immigration visa is only provided at one place in every country. Therefore, it has been decided to provide green card only from Mumbai.
However, an American Embassy official told that there have been no changes in H-1B visa rules and as of now, the officials are discussing this issue.
