Harbour Line AC locals receives an overwhelming response from commuters. A remarkable 6.40 lakh passengers travelled in just 16 days, reflecting the growing preference for comfortable travel.
In an official statement, Central Railway (CR) said that between January 26 and February 10, 2026, a total of 6.40 lakh passengers used the AC local services on the Harbour line, registering an average daily ridership of 40,017 commuters. The services were introduced to offer enhanced comfort and convenience to daily travellers on one of Mumbai’s busiest suburban corridors.
The strong passenger response has also translated into good revenue generation. Central Railway earned INR 2.38 crore from the sale of AC local tickets during the 16-day period, averaging INR 14.90 lakh per day. Of this, INR 1.79 crore was earned from season tickets, while journey tickets contributed INR 59 lakh.

During the period from January 26 to February 10, 2026, ticket-checking teams detected and penalised 810 cases of irregular travel in Harbour line AC locals, recovering INR 2.50 lakh as penalty, as per reports.
