On Wednesday, February 23, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that the locals have been following all rules and restrictions. She believes that this is helping in reining in the spread of the coronavirus infection, reported the news agency ANI.

Pednekar added that of the 135 new COVID-19 cases registered on Tuesday, February 22, 20 are symptomatic and those infected have been admitted.

On Tuesday, the city also reported two fatalities owing to the novel virus. Additionally, 20,889 tests were done, with this the recovery rate of Mumbai is 98 per cent and the total number of active cases stands at 1,315. On a positive note, there are presently zero active containment zones or sealed buildings in the city.

In other developments, narratives claim that the state government might soon issue fresh orders announcing further relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions.

Government officials were quoted in reports elaborating on how the state executive committee (SEC) of disaster management will meet on February 25 to discuss further relaxations in curbs.

If narratives are to be believed the state is expected to ease restrictions on 50 per cent occupancy in cinema halls, theatres, auditoriums, beauty parlours, salons, gymnasiums, etc.
