IKEA has always been one of the most adored brands across the world. However, ever since the brand launched in India, people across the nation have showered their love for the brand. The Swedish brand opened a massive store in Mumbai recently and after tasting success, the brand has decided to continue the expansion – this time with a small store in the mall in suburban Mumbai.
According to the reports this will be the first ever in-mall store of IKEA in the country and the authorities have taken a decision keeping the company’s Omni channel presence in mind which will be implemented in the state of Maharashtra to ensure that citizens across Mumbai and other parts of the state make the most of IKEA’s offerings.
The announcement regarding the same was made on Saturday July 2, 2022, and this information has created excitement among the citizens in the city of Mumbai. Officials have announced the new store will be opened in Ghatkopar’s RCity mall.
As per the press release officials have informed that the new store will be able to host many customers in the of 72,000 square feet retail space which has been well designed for affordable and functional products. An IKEA’s restaurant will also be planned at the outlet, and this will be able to host 130 people. Customers will be able to enjoy curated delicacies both from India and Sweden.
It is being said that the store will be made open to public in the next few months and will be located on the third floor of the mall.
Sharing more details regarding the store, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA India, Susanne Pulverer, said that the brand aims to ensure products are made more accessible for the public and the team is working towards ensuring a convenient IKEA experience.
IKEA opened the second store in India in 2020, in Navi Mumbai, prior to which it was operating online since 2019. The first city store was opened in Worli in 2021. In 2022, IKEA opened the store in Bangalore and witnessed a warm welcome. Reports stated that customers queued for over three hours to visit the store and make the most of IKEA experience.
