Various activities are being conducted across the state under the road safety campaign. To spread awareness about road safety, school and college students are also being guided regarding road safety. Drunk and Drive Prevention Campaign was implemented to screen such drivers through breathalyser devices with the aim of preventing drunk driving, accidents and accidental deaths. In this, 339 drivers were tested with a breathalyser device.


Under this campaign, RTO and Transport Department officials conducted breathalyser test of drivers at Sion Circle, Suman Nagar Chowk, Edward Nagar, Amar Mahal Chowk Chembur, LBS Road Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Deonar, Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Chowk etc. The campaign ran from February 3 to 5 from 7 pm to 11:30 pm. On this occasion, two-wheelers, auto rickshaws, taxis, light goods vehicles, heavy vehicles and bus drivers were inspected.

Drivers should not drink and drive, as drunk driving is definitely the most likely cause of accidents and death. In future too, testing campaigns will be conducted through breath analyzer equipment. However, Regional Transport Officer Vinay Ahire has appealed to the citizens not to drive after drinking alcohol.
