In the backdrop of the Dahi Handi festival, the state government has distributed funds to insure around one and a half lakh Govindas for their safety. However, the current insurance registration process is being done through the Maharashtra State Govinda Association, and Dahi Handi Association officials made a serious allegation at a press conference in Thane that this association is illegal. Also, since this process is complicated and time-consuming, there is a risk of thousands of Govinda teams being deprived of insurance, and he demanded that the single window scheme for insurance registration be implemented immediately, as before.

Although this is a government scheme, Govinda's insurance applications are being filled through technological means like QR codes through the Maharashtra State Govinda Dahihandi Association, even though it is not mentioned anywhere in the government ordinance. However, Dahi Handi Association Secretary Kamlesh Bhoir alleged that the application process is not being completed due to many errors. Dahi Handi is 12 days away.

The insurance period is from the Dahi Handi practice to 6 am the next day of Dahi Handi. Most of the teams have started their practices since Guru Purnima. Fortunately, no one has been injured yet. However, this complicated online insurance system is creating difficulties in filling out the application. Dahi Handi Association Vice President Sameer Pendhare raised the question of who is responsible if someone gets injured during practice.
