The Indian government has approved three vaccines against COVID-19, namely Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik V. However, most people of all age groups are getting inoculated with only two vaccines -- Covaxin, and Covishield – at present.

While both Covaxin and Covishield have been deemed safe for use, and adverse reactions have been rarely observed, there are also certain possible side effects people need to be aware of. Hence, there has always been a debate on which vaccine to take and many are indecisive about taking which jab.

Besides, AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria shared that the data available till now shows clearly that efficacy of all vaccines — whether Covaxin, Covishield or Sputnik V — are more or less equivalent. So, please go ahead and get yourself vaccinated so that you and your family are safe, Guleria added.

There is only one difference between the two - Covishield has passed through the complete three stages of testing, Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech is still on the last scale of the study, reports suggested.
