Jai Shringarpure and his team have been cleaning Dadar beach for the last five months now. The local superhero aims at making Mumbai clean and what started as his daughter's request, because she wanted to play, has today become a ritual for Jay, who every week lays his hands to clear the trash near the water body.

Jay Shringarpure started the beach clean-up alone at Dadar Chowpatty early this year and invites people through social media, in a bid to make awareness about cleanliness in the surroundings. As he progressed, many noticed his efforts and soon people came along to join him. He has also been assisted by the Advanced Locality Management (ALM), who have said that the mess does not come from the locals. It finds its way either from the Mithi River or the water drains in the city.

Though nothing much has been done after the 2006 tragedy in Mumbai and Jai along with his team do not want to see history repeating itself again. Amidst the waste, they have come across a lot of dead animals washed on the shore, including a carcass of dolphin.

This week too, on December 17, he along with his team of volunteers will come together to beautify Dadar beach. Join him and be a part of this initiative in making this city clean and healthy. To be a part of the clean up drive this Saturday, meet him at Suryavanshi hall Lane in Dadar. The drive will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Here's one of our interviews with him:
