The fire which broke out at Lower Parel's Kamala Mills compound last night raised alarm after it was extinguished, especially when officials from the municipal corporation, BMC and the owners of the pub were questioned for the permission and protocols needed.

As per credible sources, Mumbai Live has received the information that five BMC officials have been suspended and one ward officer has been transferred, based on the above-mentioned concerns. As per the information released, the officers who have been suspended include Madhukar Shelar, Mahale, Dharmaraj Shinde, Wadgire, and S S Shinde (from the fire department). Further, G-south ward inspector Sapkale has been transferred.

The reason behind the fire is still being investigated. The statement and data released by the officials mention that around 124 people were stuck in the building, and were immediately taken to seven hospitals in Mumbai, of which 11 people have been declared dead. The list includes mostly women and girls, who were taken to Mumbai's KEM hospital for the treatment.

Keeping in mind that New Year is around the corner, an incident of this degree raises many questions regarding permissions, parties, regulation papers, and much more.
