After Maharashtra government announced its mega-recruitment, the youth in large numbers across the state have applied for vacant posts. Earlier in December 2018, in the first phase of the mega-recruitment, almost eight lakh youth in Maharashtra have filed applications for 4,400 vacancies in Class-3 and Class-5.

The job profile of Forest Guard has received most applications from the young people. Almost 1,218 vacancies were out for this post and the educational qualification for the job required the applicant to have cleared 12th standard.

Almost 4.3 lakh people applied for the post which means that 353 unemployed youth are struggling to claim a single vacant post. Experts believe that there is a shortage of jobs in the private sector. Thus, there is a flood of applications for governmental jobs. Apart from this, there is tough competition on the basis of skills among employees in the private sector.

Agriculturist Kishor Tiwari, who is working in drought-hit districts of Maharashtra, informed that in rural areas of the state the government jobs are of great importance. Government jobs provide financial and job security too.
