With the expansion work of the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) is nearing its completion, the project is likely to be completed by March 2024.

Despite the work is in full swing, it missed the December 2023 deadline. The construction on the new platforms, located adjacent to platform number five on the west side of the station, was marred by unforeseen technical challenges. Hence, it could not achieve the initial set deadline.

Official stated that at least, six-seven additional trains can be run from LTT once both the platforms are ready.

It is also expected to alleviate congestion and enhance service frequency.

The LTT station expansion project oversees the addition of two new platforms, which will cater to the surge in footfalls during the upcoming summer rush.

The latest report on LLT project suggest that expansion has reached two-third completion and authorities are making effort to finish it before the anticipated surge in passengers.

One among city's busiest railway terminus, LTT sees massive number of passengers during summer. Therefore, the construction of two extra platforms is aimed towards improving operational efficiency and catering to the increasing influx of passengers.

Currently, there are five platforms, which witness nearly 70,000 passengers on a daily basis.
