One dead, four injured in cylinder blast at Thane

The cylinder blast took place on Tuesday morning, injuring 55-year-old Kantibai Wankhede who later succumbed to her injuries at Thane's Civil Hospital. Four others were injured in the accident

During the wee hours of the day, on December 25, 55-year-old Kantibai Wankhede died while four others were injured in a cylinder blast. The incident took place in Panchpakhadi, Thane (W).

Sandip Kakde (40), Himanshu Kakde (12), Vandana Kakde (50) and Latika Kakde (35) were the ones who were injured in a cylinder blast.

On Tuesday morning, the blast took place inside a house on Ambedkar road, Panchpakhadi. The Injured were immediately admitted at Thane's Civil hospital. However, during the treatment, Kantabai succumbed to her injuries while the others are recuperating at the hospital.

Police and fire brigade officials are investigating the blast for more clues.


18 motorbikes were torched

In another incident, on Tuesday, 18 motorbikes were torched on Almedia road opposite Hanuman Society in the Panchpakhadi area, Thane. It is believed that the incident took place on Tuesday morning around 2:30 am. Meanwhile, when the bikes were set on fire, nearby residents tried dousing it. Firefighters were successful in dousing the fire but until then all bikes were charred.
