On Sunday, COVID-19 numbers in Maharashtra were at a 75-week low, with the fatalities under 20 which is said to be the lowest in 34 weeks, reported the Times of India. In addition to this, the death toll due to the coronavirus for the state reached 1,40,016.

The most recent 10,000 COVID-19 fatalities were in three months which when contrasted to the earlier 10,000 fatalities had come in a mere 25 days. This by many is claimed to signify the slowing down of the pandemic.

On Sunday, the 1,410 new cases took the overall number to 66,02,961 in Maharashtra. This figure is claimed to be the least, Maharashtra has reported since May 2020 during which 1,026 cases were reported. According to the report, officials from the state elucidated that this fall in numbers was shown in spite of the fact that over 1.3 lakh tests were undertaken. With this, they went on to add that the number of daily testing undertaken should increase regularly.

Based on the account, from the new cases, over 50% were from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) that logged 702. These included nearly 400 from Mumbai, trailed by 382 from the Pune circle. Both together registered for almost 77% of the new cases.

Additionally, fatalities fell to 18 which is the least since February 22 during which these many fatalities were logged and the second wave was knocking at the door.
