Maharashtra is set to become one of the top five Indian states in providing online services to residents. Currently, the state ranks eighth with 485 services available. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Jammu and Kashmir are ahead in this area among other states. Jammu and Kashmir alone offers 1,000 services online.

Maha IT Company, a government initiative, is leading this effort. Preparations for expanding online services are underway. The goal is to add 285 more services to the state’s current offerings. This decision was made during a meeting led by Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra’s Information Technology Minister.

The state is also developing its own cloud for data protection. This step aligns with the Union government's recommendations on securing data while improving digital services.

Additionally, the General Administration Department has launched a seven-point program. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis oversees this initiative. Sujata Saunik, the state’s chief secretary, issued detailed instructions. A 100-day plan was announced for divisional and district-level officers.

The officers were instructed to update the websites of their respective offices. They must make sure that at least two services are delivered quickly under the ease of living program. Cleanliness in government offices is another priority. This includes disposing of old files and removing abandoned vehicles.

An effective grievance redressal system will also be implemented. Lokshahi Din, which was inactive for five years, will be revived. Investment-friendly measures and field visits by officers might happen too. Amenities for employees at workplaces will also be improved.

The updated websites will include mandatory disclosures under the RTI Act. This will increase transparency in government operations.
