Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde has directed to conduct fire, structural and oxygen audits of government and private hospitals under the jurisdiction of all Municipal Corporations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). He asked all the Municipal Commissioners to conduct this audit through a third-party expert to prevent fire incidents.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde to review the situation in coronavirus in the MMR area, which includes Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts. Besides, the availability of Oxygen and Remdesivir along with its supply was also reviewed.

Eknath Shinde also suggested the effective use of the call centre to check up on the patients in home isolation and get information about their health.

With the onset of summer, air conditioners and ventilators consume extra electricity, hence, Eknath Shinde instructed to deploy fire brigade vehicles at the site of Covid Care Center as there is a possibility of fire due to a short circuit.

He also suggested that with the help of Assistant Commissioners and Ward Officers, it is mandatory to monitor the supply of oxygen in private hospitals and to make it mandatory for the municipality to report any shortage of oxygen. Eknath Shinde also ordered to be vigilant to ensure that no untoward incidents take place with female patients in the Covid Care Center.

Some municipal commissioners observed that the number of coronavirus patients in some municipal areas was declining. However, the Urban Development Minister has instructed all the commissioners and district collectors to complete the work of the oxygen production plant as soon as possible.
