The custom house constructed in Mahim in the space of 2,000 square metres has transformed into ruins. The place has become adda of smokers and drunkards. Local activist Irfan Macchiwala has reported the matter to the police station but no action has been undertaken.
During 1992-93 fire broke wherein custom house alongside Babu Market were on fire. The administration is not looking into the maintenance of the custom house. The custom house has turned into a dumping ground.
When Mumbai Live team contacted Beni Bhattacharya, Manager regarding the matter he told that a proposal has been sent to Public Works Department (PWD) to construct the guest house at the place.
