On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in Mumbai touched the 34.5 degrees Celsius mark for the second consecutive day, stated reports. This mercury temperature is said to be two degrees over the normal limit, mentioned the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

On Tuesday, between 7 pm and 8 pm, there were thunder and lightning showers in some parts of South Mumbai as well as the suburbs of Powai and Andheri, this was also accompanied by light to moderate rain in a few areas.

The IMD also elucidated that the minimum temperature in the night was also two degrees over the normal at 26-degree Celsius.

According to accounts, officials of the IMD elaborated that October will not witness any prominent rainfall and that the late monsoon withdrawal in India has resulted in a rise in temperatures. Based on the report by the Times of India, Shubhangi Bhute an IMD scientist stated that the winds are in an easterly direction and the significant amount of moisture has resulted in the rise of temperature.

Whilst the official date of southwest monsoon withdrawal from Mumbai is October 8, there aren’t any indications of it yet. The authority has stated that the withdrawal is anticipated to commence from the northeast October 6 onwards.
