Salons and parlours in Mumbai to operate without AC; Mayor Kishori Pednekar issues warning

Reminding the business owners about the revised guidelines of operation, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar added that the virus is likely to spread through the AC, and hence, if it is on, the shop owners will be penalized.

The unlock process, across the state, began on Monday, June 7, 2021, and as per the revised guidelines, shops in Mumbai have now been allowed to remain open until 4pm. This also includes salons, beauty parlours and spas. However, officials have strictly asked the authorities to not allow the same to be air-conditioned.

Keeping the same in mind, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar warned the businesses stating that action will be taken against the shop owners if they keep the AC on. Sharing more information at a press conference, she reminded the salons, beauty parlors and spas about the operation hours and the rules regarding air-conditioning. Emphasising more, she said that the virus is likely to spread through the AC, and hence, if it is on, they will be penalized. 

Adding more, she said that the curfew will continue in Mumbai after 8pm and malls, theaters and cinemas will remain closed. 

Meanwhile, Mumbai local trains are not operational for the general public. Employees from the emergency services will only be allowed to board the trains and buses. Moreover, passengers are forbidden to stand and travel . On the other hand, private vehicles coming from the fifth level cities will not be allowed in Mumbai. 

Hotels and restaurants shall be allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity until 4 pm post which takeaway and delivery services can be opted. 

Strict measures have been implemented and action will be taken against those who violate the rules. She added that after the long lockdown, people in Mumbai should understand the importance of self-discipline and follow the same. All the services will be allowed to operate completely only if the cases reduce, for which citizens have to co-operate with the government and help in containing the spread.
