Potholes rile the commuters in the city and the problem magnifies every passing year. Be it controversy or deaths, potholes have been the constant talk of the town. Thousands of Mumbaikars took to social media even this year, to voice their frustration with the city’s shoddy roads. A bunch of citizens has decided to warn the others of the pothole menace by launching a campaign infused with a little sarcasm and fun.

The campaign #MeraKhaddaMahaan is the brainchild of Nishant Bangera, a Thane-based manager. After seeing the current road conditions near his place, Nishant came up with the idea of a pothole photo contest with a group of friends.

The group started a Facebook page called PWD or Pothole Warrior Department and shared funny memes on it. The campaign was also launched on the same page, in which, one has to click a picture of a pothole, add a quirky caption submit it. The person who clicks the largest pothole will be felicitated on Sunday. The campaign received 15 responses in just two days. The group will be judging the entries and has asked civic officials to felicitate the winners.

While the campaign is getting people to bring out their creativity, it also serves a bigger purpose of alerting citizens about the issue. Social media is indeed a powerful tool and the pictures will surely help the cause.
