The neglect of Mrudung Acharya ground in Causeway area of Mahim has been badly affecting the children residing in nearby areas. The BMC authorities have kept water tanks in this ground and these tanks are to be used in the tunnel project. These tanks have been exposed and their lids are missing creating problems for kids who have no other ground in the area to play.
One more startling fact of this ground is that the civic neglect has turned this ground into a parking space.
The garden’s security wall has also been broken which has made it easy for stray dogs and anti-social elements to freely use this garden. The local residents have raised a question mark on the efficiency of civic officials.
Vaibhav Dandekar, a local resident, said that children want this ground to be made ready for them. As there is no soil in this ground, children get injured many times. The entry of drug addicts and dogs add to their woes.
When contacted, G-North ward’s assistant municipal commissioner Ramakant Biradar said that the civic authorities will soon place red soil on this ground and security wall will be repaired by the end of this month.
