A Nirbhaya team formed by the Samta Nagar police station, located in Kandivali (East), found an eight-year-old girl in a few hours who had gone missing from her residence in Malwani in Malad (West). They reunited the child with her family.

The little girl is from Uttar Pradesh (UP) and had come to Mumbai a few days ago. She was staying with her uncle. Aanandrao Haake, Senior Inspector at Samta Nagar police station, said that the girl was not liking it here. She wanted to return to UP, so she left home at around 9 am and got lost. Soon a missing report was lodged. The Nirbhaya team spotted the girl wandering at Lokhandwala circle in Kandivali (East).

Haake further said that she left her Malwani residence in the morning, and their team found her at around 11 am. She told the police that she wanted to return to Allahabad. They used their WhatsApp internal group made to find missing persons. The cops then found a missing complaint that was lodged with Malwani police on the same day, following which they verified all the details and then reunited her with her family by evening.

It was in September that the Mumbai Police had announced the formation of 'Nirbhaya Squad' for women safety after the Saki Naka rape and murder incident.
