Mumbai’s police stations are getting a significant facelift under the Chief Minister’s 100-day governance improvement initiative.

Mumbai police have been active online on Instagram and X handles. Now, all police stations across Mumbai are available on X (formerly Twitter) platform in addition to the official handles of Mumbai Police and the Mumbai police commissioner.

This initiative allows citizens to connect directly with their local police stations to report any issues or concerns more efficiently.

With the addition of all local police stations to X, citizens can directly reach out to their nearest police station with ease. This move is to strengthen communication and ensure quicker public assistance.

On Monday, April 7, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off hi-tech police vehicles and inaugurated state-of-the-art cyber laboratories, which will be crucial in investigating cybercrime.

According to a report, one of the standout changes is the introduction of “Welcome Kaksh” (Help Desks) at stations like Mulund. These help desks are staffed by constables who assist citizens with services such as character certificates, passport verifications, and other procedural queries.

The CM also highlighted several key initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and support.

Key upgrades include:

  • Faster services (passport verifications now in 7 days)
  • Cleaner premises, including washrooms
  • AI integration and new cyber labs in each of Mumbai’s 13 zones
  • Women’s Help Room in every police station across Mumbai.

Meanwhile, at a time when police stations across Mumbai are being revamped or relocated to tackle outdated infrastructure, Parksite in Vikhroli East has become Maharashtra’s first ISO-certified green police station. Equipped with a large solar panel on its terrace, Parksite has set a benchmark in sustainability even as others like Vakola, Khar, and Marine Drive continue to grapple with cramped spaces, poor facilities, or incomplete upgrades.
