The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Prabhakar Shinde for the position of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). He is a senior corporator with considerable experience in municipal affairs.
For the Education Committee, the party has nominated Rajashree Shirwadkar, who is also an experienced councillor. Both have submitted their nomination applications to the municipal corporation’s registrar section. Given the BJP’s majority in the BMC, their election to these positions is expected to be largely uncontested.
These nominations come after the recent election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and the announcement of members for the four key statutory committees, Standing, Education, Improvements, and BEST Committees. The nomination deadline for these posts was 18 February 2026, marking the next step in forming the BMC’s key committees for the year.
