Several swimming pools operated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in areas such as Mulund, Chembur, and Dahisar have been shut, causing inconvenience to citizens, especially during the peak summer season.

Officials said the closures are due to ongoing repair and maintenance work as well as technical issues. In Mulund, the pool has been closed for repairs, while in Chembur, operations were halted due to leakage problems.

Similarly, the Dahisar facility has also been affected, adding to the limited availability of public swimming pools in the city.

The shutdown has led to disappointment among swimmers and residents, many of whom rely on these civic-run pools during summer. With fewer alternatives available, citizens have raised concerns over the timing of maintenance work.

Civic officials have stated that the closures are necessary to ensure safety and proper functioning of the facilities, though no clear timeline has been given for reopening in some cases.
