Rats have always been rampant in government hospitals. Patients are also often troubled by these rats. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now decided to use high sound waves to drive away the rats from the hospital. Currently, this technology is being used on an experimental basis. Accordingly, high sound waves will be used in places where rats are most infested. For this, a committee will be established in each hospital and this technology will be tested.
Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Dr. Sudhakar Shinde started reviewing the facilities and cleanliness in the hospitals. In this examination, Dr. Sudhakar Shinde found a lack of cleanliness in hospitals. At the same time, they found a large number of rats, dogs, cats etc. in the premises of the hospital. Accordingly, Shinde has given instructions to the Pesticide Department to undertake a special campaign against rats in the hospital besides emphasising on the cleanliness of the hospital.
800 rats were killed in the first phase and more than 700 in the second phase of the campaign conducted by the Pesticide Department. But since this process is troublesome, it has been decided by the civic body to use high sound waves to drive away the rats from the hospital premises. A committee will be formed in each hospital to use this technology. This committee will test this technology. If this trial is successful, it will be used in all major hospitals, suburban hospitals, clinics and maternity hospitals of the municipality.
How do high frequency sound waves work?
Mice do not like high sound waves. So, as soon as the sound waves are released, the rats run away from the area. Sound waves keep away not only mice but also mosquitoes, flies and cockroaches. Sound waves are also environmentally safe. By this means rats and insects will be removed from the hospital premises without killing them.
