The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees have a good reason to smile this Diwali as approximately 1.25 lakh employees will be getting a bonus ranging from INR 2,250 to INR 14,500.
The decision was taken on Wednesday by BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta after the unions demanded a bonus of INR 40,000. The BMC has decided to spend more than INR 160 crore as Diwali bonus.
The BMC commissioner who was not ready to hand a bonus agreed for the same after several meetings with political parties.
This year, although, 42,000 BEST employees are will not be getting any bonus. BMC did not agree for the bonus as the BEST is reeling under losses.
