Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of India's longest 1386 km expressway from Madhya Pradesh to Vadodara, connecting the country's capital Delhi and financial capital Mumbai at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore.

With the opening of this road, the distance from Delhi to Vadodara has reduced by 150 kilometers and the travel time has reduced from 18 hours to 10 hours. However, Mumbaikars will have to wait till the end of next year to travel faster from Mumbai to Delhi by road as the remaining sections of the road are likely to be completed by 2024.

It is being told that the work of expressway is going on fast from Vadodara to Navsari in Gujarat and around Virar and near JNPT in Maharashtra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from Delhi to Vadodara passing through multiple states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana. The cost of this is about INR 12,000 crore.

The fastest train covers the distance from Delhi to Vadodara in 10 hours 45 minutes. It is being claimed that this distance will be covered by road on the expressway in ten to one and a half hours. In other words, Vadodara can now be reached by road in the same time as the high speed train. Till now there were two routes from Delhi to Vadodara. One, the route to Jaipur, Bhilwara and Udaipur.

Second, Gujarat from Laxmangarh, Lasot and Kota. On these roads the distance from one end to the other can be covered in 17 to 20 hours. At the same time, Haryana's Sohna, Dausa, Lalsot, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Ratlam, Dahod, Godhra and Vadodara can be reached in about fifty percent less time than the other two roads of the expressway.

After the road from Vadodara to Mumbai is ready, it is being claimed that the distance from Delhi to Mumbai can be covered in just 12 hours.
