The Dharavi redevelopment project has been handed over to the Adani Group and the redevelopment is likely to start soon. However, Dharavikars have opposed the redevelopment of Dharavi through the Adani Group. The Dharavi Rescue Movement has now demanded that Adani should not be given this project by calling Adani Hatav Dharavi Bhacho. To convey this demand to the state government, thousands of Dharavikars will take to the streets on August Kranti Day, August 9.
The blanket of Dharavi redevelopment has been soaking for the past 19 years. But now, the state government has started taking concrete steps to implement this project. The state government has recently approved the award of the project to the Adani Group. Now the work is likely to start soon after issuing the acceptance letter. However, Dharavikar is unhappy when actual redevelopment is about to take place after 19 years. Dharavikars are opposed to awarding the redevelopment project to the Adani Group.
The Dharavi Defense Movement has alleged that the Dharavi project will not be implemented properly by Adani. Dharavikars have now decided to take to the streets to demand that this project be withdrawn from Adani. Accordingly, the Dharavi Defense Movement has informed that a large number of Dharavikars will gather at 90 feet road on August 9 and protest against Adani there.
