In a major move aimed at simplifying digital services for millions of daily commuters, the Indian Railways has launched a new official mobile application, ‘Rail One’, at the beginning of the new year.
With this launch, the popular UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) app has been discontinued local train seasonal ticket booking facility, marking a significant shift in how suburban railway passengers access passes.
The change is aimed at consolidating railway services on a single digital platform. The Rail One app is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of users.
Pass Services Shift Exclusively to Rail One
According to the Ministry of Railways, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly passes for suburban railways, including Mumbai’s local train network, will now be available only through the Rail One app. These services, which were earlier accessible via the UTS app, have been fully migrated to the new platform.
Passengers who already hold valid passes issued through the UTS app can continue using them until their expiry date. However, once the validity ends, commuters will be required to register on the Rail One app to obtain or renew their passes.
3% Discount On Tickets Booked Via RailOne
In a move to promote cashless transactions, the Ministry of Railways has announced a 3 per cent discount on the purchase of unreserved tickets through the RailOne app by using any digital payment mode. This offer will be valid for six months, from January 14, 2026 to July 14, 2026.
Earlier, passengers received a 3 per cent cashback only when payments were made via the R-wallet. Under the revised system, the discount will apply directly to payments made using UPI, debit cards, credit cards and other digital methods.
