Western Railway (WR) will introduce a revised suburban train timetable from September 1, 2026, bringing changes to several local train services across the Mumbai suburban network.

The revised schedule is designed to align train operations more closely with passenger demand and improve connectivity during different parts of the day.

Despite the changes, the overall number of Western Railway suburban services will remain at 1,414. The railway zone will add six new services while withdrawing six existing ones. Several trains will also have their routes, stopping patterns and originating or terminating stations modified.

New Mumbai Local Services

Western Railway will introduce six new slow suburban services under the revised timetable. These include two Up services and four Down services.

Up Services:

  • Bandra–Churchgate: The local will depart Bandra at 11:58 am and arrive at Churchgate at 12:30 pm.
  • Virar–Borivali: The late-night service will leave Virar at 11:51 pm and reach Borivali at 12:26 am.

Down Services:

  • Bhayandar–Virar: Departs Bhayandar at 7:46 am and reaches Virar at 8:12 am.
  • Borivali–Bhayandar: Departs Borivali at 10:14 pm and reaches Bhayandar at 10:30 pm.
  • Borivali–Virar: Departs Borivali at 10:51 pm and reaches Virar at 11:33 pm.
  • 91017 Borivali–Bhayandar: Departs Borivali at 12:28 am and reaches Bhayandar at 12:46 am.

The additional late-evening and early-morning services are expected to provide more options for commuters travelling outside the traditional peak hours.

Existing Local Services To Be Withdrawn

As part of the timetable restructuring, Western Railway will discontinue six existing suburban services.

Up Services:

  • Train No. 94138 (AC)
  • Train No. 90540 Borivali–Churchgate

Down Services:

  • Train No. 94137 (AC) Churchgate–Borivali
  • Train No. 90359 Churchgate–Mumbai Central
  • Train No. 90483 Churchgate–Borivali
  • Train No. 90911 Churchgate–Mumbai Central

The withdrawal of these services is part of the wider timetable rationalisation, with replacement or modified services being introduced based on operational requirements and passenger demand.

WR To Run More AC Local Services

The number of weekday AC suburban services will rise from 145 to 147 under the new timetable. On Saturdays and Sundays, Western Railway will operate 116 AC services.

Two existing non-AC services will be converted into AC services while retaining their existing timings and routes:

  • Train No. 90693 Churchgate–Borivali will operate as AC Train No. 94105, departing Churchgate at 5:28 pm.
  • Train No. 90758 Borivali–Churchgate will operate as AC Train No. 94110, departing Borivali at 6:24 pm.

The changes will provide additional AC travel options during the evening period.

Dadar–Dahanu Road Connectivity Introduced

One of the notable changes in the new timetable is the creation of a direct Dadar–Dahanu Road suburban service.

At present, Train No. 90677 Dadar–Virar and Train No. 93033 Virar–Dahanu Road operate as separate services. Under the revised arrangement, the two services will be integrated.

The revised Train No. 93033 will depart Dadar at 5:22 pm and reach Dahanu Road at 7:30 pm, providing through connectivity without the need for passengers to change trains at Virar.

Virar–Dadar Local Extended Up To Churchgate

Another important change affects the morning service from Virar.

Train No. 92046 Virar–Dadar, which currently departs Virar at 8:23 am, will be extended to Churchgate and operate as Train No. 92056. The extended service is scheduled to reach Churchgate at 9:48 am.

Meanwhile, Train No. 92069 Dadar–Virar will be revised as Train No. 92083. The service will originate from Churchgate at 9:52 am and operate up to Nalasopara.

These route changes are intended to improve direct connectivity on the Western Railway suburban corridor.

Churchgate–Virar Services To Skip Borivali

The revised timetable will also change the stopping patterns of some fast services.

The following Churchgate–Virar services will no longer halt at Borivali:

  • Train No. 94113 (AC) — departs Churchgate at 6:22 pm and reaches Virar at 7:46 pm.
  • Train No. 90791 — departs Churchgate at 7:05 pm and reaches Virar at 8:27 pm.

Passengers travelling to or from Borivali during these timings will therefore need to check alternative services.

Changes To AC Slow Services Between Churchgate and Goregaon

Western Railway has also revised the operation of certain AC slow locals.

Train No. 94029, which currently runs from Churchgate to Borivali, will now terminate at Goregaon and operate as Train No. 94045 Churchgate–Goregaon AC Slow.

In the return direction, Train No. 94040 Borivali–Churchgate will instead originate from Goregaon at 11:39 am as Train No. 94060 Goregaon–Churchgate AC Slow.
