To deal with emergency situations, Mumbai Metro has launched a ‘monsoon control room’ at Charkop depot.

It has also installed anemometers to measure winds speeds at five stations each on elevated lines 2A (Dahisar to Andheri) and 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East).

This development comes to ensure passenger safety and convenience during the monsoon.

These devices will help Maha Mumbai Metro Rail Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) to accurately measure wind speed and determine whether it is safe to continue Metro services during challenging weather conditions.

The control room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a team of trained professionals who will provide seamless services and mitigate any potential risks or disruptions caused by inclement weather conditions.

The MMMOCL has also issued helpline numbers – 18008890505, 18008890808 – to facilitate passenger communication with the control room. The 24-hour hotline number is directly connected to the State Disaster Management, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Police Control Room, ambulance services and the fire brigade.

At least 64 CCTV cameras have been installed at each metro station for the safety of passengers. These cameras, installed at places such as platforms, roadside areas, will be closely monitored by a 24-hour control center and security control room.
