Mill workers are yet to get houses. Repeated assurances are being given by the government. But the housing issue is status-quo. The mill workers are planning to carry out a protest at Azad Maidan on Thursday for the main demand of allotting houses to the mill workers.

The state government has not announced the policy on where and when to provide houses to the one and a half lakh mill workers. There is a delay in handing over the houses. Equal monthly instalment of home loan for workers has started. But still they have not got possession of the house. Therefore, all Srimik organisations have called for a march on Thursday, alleging that the government is not serious about the issue of houses for mill workers.
