The present road toll collection system on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link is outdated. Queues of vehicles are increasing as it often takes time to collect road tax. Considering all these factors, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has decided to change the road toll collection system on the sea link. A sophisticated automatic toll collection system will be installed on the sea link by the end of June. It is believed that this will speed up the collection of road toll on the sea link and solve the problem of long queues of vehicles required to pay the toll.


Due to the outdated road toll collection system, maintenance and repair work has also increased. There are many complaints that it takes time to collect road tax. There is also a picture that the queues of vehicles are increasing as the collection of road tax is not being done fast. Therefore, now a decision has been taken to change the toll collection system on the sea link, a senior officer in MSRDC told Loksatta. The official said that a state-of-the-art automatic road tax collection system will be installed there and an expenditure of three to four crore rupees is expected.

This work will be done through a company specialised in the latest automatic road tax collection system. The final decision regarding tendering for this will be taken soon. MSRDC is planning to install a new road toll collection system on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link by the end of June after completing all the related procedures.
