In order to improve last mile connectivity, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has started providing parking facilities for the commuters of Mumbai Metro 2A and 7.

However, for now, this facility has been commenced at five bus depots near the Metro stations, with minimal charges for two and four-wheelers and buses.

The bus depots of Oshiwara, Goregaon West, Malad West, Magathane and Vazira Naka in Borivali have been identified for parking purposes.

In total, 483 vehicles can be parked at these five locations. The parking space at Magathane Metro station has capacity for 126 vehicles, Oshiwara 115, Goregaon (West) 116, Malad (West) 86 and Borivali (West) 40 at a time.

The MMRDA has tied up with the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) for this pilot project wherein for the first time depots will be utilised for the purpose of parking vehicles of outsiders for the stipulated time period.

These parking lots are made available at the BEST bus depots through transport body's authorised Mobile app "Park+". These BEST bus depots are in the vicinity of metro stations. Moreover, BEST's pay-and-park facility for public has been in place since pre-pandemic.

The parking fee is ₹20 for two wheelers, ₹30 for four-wheelers and ₹60 for buses for the first three hours. Thereafter, the charge will be ₹25 for two-wheelers, ₹40 for four-wheelers and ₹ 95 for buses for six hours. As per the plan, the tariff will be charged in 6 hrs, 12 hrs, over 12 hours, and monthly pass categories.
