An assistant police inspector in Mumbai has allegedly abused as well as assaulted a bar cashier in Mumbai for refuting to serve him food in the late hours of Thursday, an official said, reported the news agency PTI. Across several social media platforms, the CCTV footage of the occurrence went viral. 

According to the report, the incident occurred at nearly 12.30 am and the owner of the bar has reportedly filed a police complaint against Vikram Patil, the API who is believed to have been posted at the Vakola police station. Mahesh Shetty the owner of the bar claimed that the police offer first called the bar cashier, Ramdas Patil asking to be provided with food. 

To this, the cashier replied saying that the kitchen was closed. A few minutes after this, the API came into the bar that is situated near the Vakola police station. 

Based on the narrative, he allegedly began abusing and assaulting the cashier, claimed Shetty. He was quoted by the report elaborating on how when the officer called for food it was 12.30 am. Therefore he questioned how they can keep the establishment open beyond the given time constraint.

Adding that they have lodged a complaint against the API and will also approach top officials to file an FIR. To this, a senior Mumbai police official mentioned that the occurrence transpired post the argument between the API and cashier about food. The narrative remarked that after the verification of facts, action will be undertaken against the officer.
