In a latest development, a day ahead of the New Year’s Eve, which is celebrated on December 31, the Mumbai police has made appropriate arrangements to maintain law and order in South Bombay.

According to an official statement released on December 30, the police said: “Keeping in view the huge crowds on Dec 31 & New Year at Gateway of India and outside Taj Hotel, appropriate arrangements made by police to maintain law & order. We request that the boats at Jetty No. 1 to Jetty No. 4 be closed after 2 pm in view of the above reason.”

A day earlier, on Thursday, December 29, the Mumbai Police announced to deploy 25 DCPs, 7 Additional Commissioners, 1500 officers, around 10,000 police personnel, 46 SRPF platoons and 15 QRT teams across the city.

Besides, the Thane and Navi Mumbai police officials have announced several measures and drives being planned for the New Year’s Eve.

This decision has been taken to maintain law and order in the city and to ensure safe and smooth conduct of the celebrations.

Moreover, for the benefit of passengers on the occasion of New Year’s, the Mumbai division of Western Railways (WR) has decided to run eight special local train services during the midnight of December 31, 2022 and January 1, 2023. In addition, the Brihanmumbai Electric and Supply Transport (BEST) has also announced addition bus services at midnight for tourists and commuters.
