As the rainfall intensified in Mumbai on Tuesday evening, a heavy downpour can be expected on Wednesday as well.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a yellow alert which means heavy rain at isolated places for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad and an orange alert which translates to heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places for Palghar. The IMD had further warned that the rains could lead to localised flooding and waterlogging in low lying areas.

Moreover, the BMC informed the citizens of waterlogging stating that the areas at Bhendi Bazar, Gol Temple, Nana Chowk, Mumbai Central Junction, Bawla Compound, J J Junction, Hindmata, Kala Chowky, Sarthi Bar, Worli Sea Face are all waterlogged. Furthermore, in areas like Malad, Andheri, Khar and Dadar, the roads have been submerged due to the continual rain whereas the BEST has diverted traffic on several routes as a consequence.

  • Gandhi Market via Bhau Daji Road
  • Sion Road 24 via Sion Main Road
  • Malad Subway via Marnia Masjid (East and West)
  • Bandra Talkies, Old Khar via Linking Road
  • Shastri Nagar, Goregaon via Bhagat Singh Nagar
  • Andheri Market Subway via JVPD Linking Road
