The Indian Meteorological Department has issue a yellow alert indicating heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and other parts of the state for today, September 15.

In its five-day forecast released on Thursday, September 14, the weather department stated that Mumbai will continue to receive 'very heavy' rainfall till September 18.

For the day, yellow alert has also been issued in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Satara, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbani, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur among other districts.

Whereas Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Bhandara will remain on an orange alert, anticipating heavy to very heavy rainfall, the IMD stated.

Meanwhile, IMD has also issued orange alert in Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, and Satara for Sunday, September 17.

Meanwhile, Nashik, Sangli, Sholapur, Latur, Osmanabad are not predicted to face any major rainfall activity and were put on a 'green' alert by the IMD.

Other than this, heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms at isolated places is very likely over these regions during 15-18 September. The weather department stated that the conditions will improve in several districts after Sunday. 

Due to active monsoon conditions, isolated heavy falls over parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during September 15-18. Rain activity is expected to increase, the MeT office said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
