Mumbai Records Its Lowest Temperature At 15 Degree Celsius

In the vicinity of Mumbai, Panvel recorded the lowest at 11-degree celsius followed by Borivali and Kandivali in Western Suburbs at 14-degree celsius.

Mumbai recorded the lowest temperature at 15 degree celsius on Wednesday, January 1. Santacruz weather observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius i.e. two degrees Celsius below normal. Colaba weather station which represents South Mumbai recorded 17 degrees Celsius (the lowest this season for this weather station), which was almost three degrees Celsius below normal. 

In the vicinity of Mumbai, Panvel recorded the lowest at 11-degree celsius followed by Borivali and Kandivali in Western Suburbs at 14-degree celsius.  Moreover, over the last few days, residents of Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and many other suburban areas have been facing issues related to breathing. Reports state that the quality of air in the city has been deteriorating, and this is causing trouble to the residents. However, it was 175 (moderate) on January 1.

System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), on December 24, stated that the Air Quality Index on Tuesday was 217 (poor). SAFAR and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) categorises Air Quality Index as follows: 

  • 0-50 - good
  • 51-100 - satisfactory
  • 101-200 - moderate
  • 201-300 - poor
  • 301-400 - very poor
  • above 400 - severe.
