A 14-year-old girl injured in a tree collapse incident in Mumbai’s Khar area has died nearly a week after the accident. The incident occurred when a tree from the premises of an under-construction building fell onto an autorickshaw travelling near Linking Road.

The teenager had suffered serious head and spinal injuries and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Another injured passenger continues to remain under medical care, while a few others escaped with minor injuries.

Following the death, police have added more serious charges against those associated with the construction site. Authorities are investigating whether negligence and unsafe conditions at the site contributed to the tree collapse.

Preliminary civic findings reportedly suggest that construction activity near the tree may have weakened its base. The incident has once again brought attention to safety concerns surrounding construction sites and roadside tree maintenance in Mumbai.
