The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to extend the Level 3 restrictions by another week. In an earlier order issued, the city from June 28th onwards was set to remain within the Level 3 restrictions for a week till July 5th, Monday. The able body has now decided to further prolong the said constraints for another week which will stay in place till July 12th morning.

Even though Navi Mumbai falls under the level 2 category, owing to its low positivity rates as well as the availability of oxygen beds, to ensure that the cases stay in control the said decision was undertaken.

Under these continued limitations, all shops except those that are essential will be required to shut down operations by 4 pm and on weekends. Moreover, theatres, malls and auditoriums will continue to remain closed. Restaurants, on the other hand, can function from Monday to Friday till 4 pm at a 50% capacity. However, takeaways and home delivery will continue to function on weekends. Citizens can reap the benefits of public places, open grounds and cycling from 5-9 am.

On the professional front, private offices have been instructed to operate till 4 pm, whilst government offices need to carry out their affairs at 50% of their force. Social gatherings at marriages and funerals have also been constrained. Only 50 people are permitted to attend marriage ceremonies, whilst 20 people can attend last rite rituals.

It is important to take note that the NMMC administered a distinctive vaccination drive for women in the red-light area of Turbhe. Herein, not only did 78 women receive their jabs, but their concerns and reservations in regards to vaccination were also addressed. Similarly, a vaccination drive was also conducted for staff of salons, beauty parlours and hair dresses.

The said authorities are doing everything in their power to curb the spread of the virus.
