City activists in Navi Mumbai have been reminding all housing societies to not hold annual meetings or special gatherings in view of the pandemic.

According to the state government resolution, housing societies are to strictly maintain social distancing and not attend meetings or come in close contact with people. As per reports, a Koparkhairane-based society had announced a meeting this month, however, cancelled the same after the intervention of the local police.

Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has also warned the citizens of the same. With over 31,000 positive cases in the city, Bangar appealed to the societies and its residents to strictly maintain social distancing, to contain the spread of the contagious disease.

In recent developments, patients in Navi Mumbai have complained about private hospitals charging a higher cost for treatments, and such incidents were reported in large numbers. Observing this, the municipal corporation decided to set up a special grievance redressal room, which is located on the ground floor of NMMC headquarters. Meanwhile, the state in the last 24 hours has clocked 23,365 cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 11,21,221.
