The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has activated its monsoon emergency response mechanism following heavy rainfall across the city. Since the night of June 22, the city has witnessed intense rainfall, with an average precipitation of 125.23 mm recorded between 8:30 a.m. on June 23 and 8:30 a.m. on June 24.

Among the municipal divisions, Belapur recorded the highest rainfall at 139.40 mm, while Digha registered the lowest at 114.40 mm. The total rainfall received in the NMMC jurisdiction during the current monsoon season has reached 148.15 mm.

NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde is closely monitoring the monsoon situation and reviewing conditions across the city on a regular basis. The corporation's Central Disaster Control Room at the headquarters is functioning round-the-clock with dedicated manpower and equipment. In addition, all eight ward offices have operational 24x7 control rooms, while emergency response teams remain on standby at all five fire stations across Navi Mumbai.

Considering that several areas of Navi Mumbai are located below sea level and are prone to waterlogging, dewatering pumps have been deployed and kept operational in vulnerable locations. Municipal response teams are also conducting field inspections to clear blocked stormwater inlets and drainage channels to facilitate the smooth flow of rainwater.

Furthermore, teams are promptly responding to incidents involving fallen tree branches caused by strong winds, ensuring the restoration of traffic movement and public safety.
