The BCCI has banned the display of fireworks during the remaining World Cup matches in Delhi and Mumbai due to poor air quality in the two big cities. Delhi has only one match left to host, the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match on November 6, while Mumbai has two more league games, on November 2 and 7, and the semi-final on November 15.

"I have formally raised this matter with the ICC and there will be no fireworks display in Mumbai, which may increase pollution levels," BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said, "The Board is committed to tackling environmental issues and will always keep the interests of its fans and stakeholders at the forefront. The BCCI recognizes the urgent concerns regarding air quality in both Mumbai and New Delhi."
