In view of the outbreak of coronavirus, the state government has announced that the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Maharashtra, which is celebrated on May 1, should be observed in a simple manner.

A notification issued by the state government on Wednesday said the flag-hoisting functions will be held at 8 am at all the district headquarters.

The Disaster Management Department has been asked to ensure that the citizens should strictly follow all the rules and regulations under COVID-19 protocols.

The 61st foundation day of Maharashtra will be observed in a simple way on May 1 with only ceremonies for unfurling the national flag to be organised at various district headquarters.

A notification issued by the state government on Wednesday, April 28, said that the flag-hoisting functions will be held at 8 am at all the district headquarters.

In Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik and Amravati, the flag-hoisting should be organised at the divisional commiserate and district collectors should not hold separate functions, the notification said.

Only the district guardian minister, divisional commissioner, mayor, municipal council president, collector, police commissioner, district superintendent of police and Zilla Parishad CEO will be allowed to attend the event. Other dignitaries or guests should not be invited. Also, instructions have been given that parades should not be organized.

Moreover, the flag should be hoisted in the Vidhan Bhavan, Hon'ble High Court and other constitutional offices with minimum attendance.

If the Guardian Minister is unable to attend the function due to some unavoidable reasons, the Divisional Commissioner, Headquarters Divisional Commissioner and District Headquarters Collector have been instructed to hoist the flag.
