On Monday, April 19, the civic body of Panvel, Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) issued a fresh circular and changed the timings of the night curfew.

According to reports, the curfew timing will now start at 5 pm and continues till 7 am the next day. The fresh order will come into effect from April 20 evening. Moreover, the municipal commissioner issued a fresh circular on Monday, asking all the shops to be closed by 5 pm. However, the restaurants, bar, hotel and liquor shop can provide home delivery till 8 pm. However, there will be no over-to-counter sale of any products after 5 pm.

In the earlier order, shops were allowed to open till 8 pm on weekdays and 7 pm on weekends.

On the other hand, in an unfortunate development, a week back, the COVID-19 vaccination drive was paused in the Panvel area of Maharashtra, due to the unavailability of vaccines. According to the official notification issued by the Panvel Municipal Corporation, "Vaccination drive temporarily halted in all government and private inoculation centres in Panvel, due to unavailability of COVID-19 vaccines. Centres will be reopened once vaccines are back in stock."

Meanwhile, on Thursday, April 8, NCP president Sharad Pawar stated the Centre has assured to help Maharashtra where the COVID-19 situation is currently "grim". In a live address on Facebook, Pawar, whose party shares power in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and Congress, said he spoke to Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan earlier on Wednesday and the latter assured to support Maharashtra and other states to tackle the situation.
