The inaugural ceremony, held at the main building in Pimpri, was attended by Commissioner Shekhar Singh and several other officials, marking a significant milestone in the corporation's commitment to a cleaner and greener future.

Lease Agreements Spanning Five Years to Adapt to Future Requirements

The lease agreements for the EVs, executed on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, have a duration of five years. This flexibility allows for adjustments in the number of vehicles based on future requirements, ensuring PCMC's ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Currently, the fleet includes 25 Tata Nexon EVs and 54 Tata Tigor EVs.

Gradual Transition from Petrol and Diesel to Electric Vehicles

PCMC's progressive policy aims to gradually replace conventional petrol and diesel vehicles with electric alternatives. As part of this transition, a total of 95 electric vehicles have been sanctioned for use by officers and officials within the Municipal Corporation. Cutting-Edge Features of Tata Nexon and Tata Tigor EVs

The newly introduced Tata Nexon EVs boast modern features and advanced technology. Equipped with GPS trackers, these vehicles offer efficient navigation and enhanced fleet management capabilities. With a single charge, the Tata Nexon EVs can cover an impressive distance of up to 312 kilometers, consuming only 30 units of electricity. Similarly, the Tata Tigor EVs offer reliable performance with a range of up to 170 kilometers on a single charge, utilizing 26 units of electricity. These vehicles provide a practical and eco-friendly solution for PCMC's transportation needs, contributing to a cleaner and greener city.

Lower Maintenance Costs and Environmental Benefits

Babasaheb Galbale, Associate City Engineer, emphasized the significant benefits of EV adoption. He stated, "The introduction of EVs not only contributes to reducing pollution but also results in cost savings for the Municipal Corporation.
